Installing on phone and computer
Papeer runs in the browser. But you can install it as an app with its own icon and window — it works the same, just without the address bar, and opens faster.
Android (Chrome)
- Open papeer.online/app in Chrome.
- Menu ⋮ → Install app (or Add to Home screen).
- The Papeer icon appears on your home screen.
iPhone and iPad (Safari)
- Open papeer.online/app in Safari.
- The Share button (a square with an arrow) → Add to Home Screen.
- Confirm the name. Papeer opens as a separate app.
Computer (Chrome, Edge)
On the right of the address bar there is an install icon (a monitor with an arrow). Click it and confirm. Papeer then opens from the Start menu or the Dock like any program.
Mac (Safari)
Open papeer.online/app in Safari and choose File → Add to Dock. Papeer then opens from the Dock as a separate app.
Microsoft Store and Google Play
Papeer for the Microsoft Store (Windows) and Google Play (Android) is on the way. Until then the best way is installing from the browser as described above — it’s the same Papeer.
Icon shortcuts
In the installed app, the Papeer icon has two shortcuts: New document (creates an empty document at the top level and opens it) and Search. On Windows, right-click the icon in the Start menu or on the taskbar; on Android, touch and hold the icon.
Share to Papeer
From another app you can send text, a link, an image or another file to Papeer: choose Share and then Papeer. Papeer shows what arrived, with a field for the name; it saves a new document at the top level when you click Save (Discard saves nothing). PNG, JPG, GIF and WebP images up to 10 MB go into the text, other files become attachments within your plan’s limits. You can share at most 10 files and 250 MB at once.
Sharing works in the installed app on Android. You need to be signed in to Papeer on that device, otherwise nothing is saved. If Samsung Internet is the default browser on Android, files don’t reach Papeer — switch the default browser to Chrome.
Opening .md files on a computer
You can open an .md file in Papeer straight from your computer (right-click → Open with → Papeer). The first time, the browser asks whether Papeer may open the file. Papeer creates a new document at the top level with the same name and content; the file on your disk stays unchanged and Papeer never writes to it. Images and attachments the file points to aren’t brought over. The file must be UTF-8 encoded and at most 2 MB.
Updates
Papeer updates itself. When a new version is available, the pill at the top right says New version, and Settings → Sync has the Update to the new version button. You’ll find what changed in Settings → About Papeer → What’s new.
