Export and privacy
Exporting one document or folder
In the … menu choose Export…. You can pick Markdown as it is, plain Markdown (without highlights and colours — for other editors), or HTML. A folder downloads as a ZIP with the same choice, including the _assets folders with images and attachments.
Exporting everything
Settings → Data and privacy → Export everything. You get one ZIP with your whole account exactly as it would sit on a disk: folders, .md documents, attachments. For large accounts this takes a while — the download runs in the background and you can see the progress in Settings → Sync.
Who sees your notes
Nobody. Text, names and files are encrypted on the server with your account’s key and sit on an encrypted disk. The operator has no way to the content that doesn’t go through the running server; what exactly that means and where the limits are is in the Privacy policy. Visitors of a link get only what you share yourself. Papeer collects no analytics and uses no ad networks.
The full description of what Papeer stores about you is in Settings → Data and privacy.
Backups
The operator makes the backups: an hourly dump on the server (a day), a nightly encrypted copy on the backup server (30 days) and snapshots outside the data centre (up to 6 months). You can make your own backup by exporting any time.
